The Light of God in Christmas
I hope everyone enjoyed this special Christmas posting of Fantastic Faith. For those familiar with the theology in it, I realize that I left a lot out. Please forgive me, but this is just a comic strip and I had to condense extraordinarily to fit this format.
For those not familiar with the theology of Jesus as God, pre-existing throughout the history of the world, I could have used any one of many titles other than “the Light” of God. They would include The Door, The Lamb, The Way, The Bridegroom, and more. I only used “The Light” this time because it connects to Christmas tree iconography.
One of my favorite titles for Jesus is “The Word”. Here are some quotes from the book of John that mirrors my extrapolation, but using “The Word” instead of “The Light”:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. (John 1:1-4)
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
From His fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father’s side, has made Him known. (John 1:16-18)
I didn’t make up the theology for this comic strip. I used well known theology gleaned straight from the Bible – but (hopefully) I made it more entertaining and palatable for the casual reader.
If you enjoyed this post, or would like to wish someone you know a very special Merry Christmas, please feel free to forward.
Blessings, and may the Light of God be with you all!
