Colossians 2:8
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
Romans 12:2 – The Renewing of your mind:
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Ephesians 4:23-24 – the spirit of your mind:
…and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 6:17 – The Sword of the Spirit:
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Mark 5:9 – The Vane’s “Legion” comment:
This was a tip-off to the aliens true nature, as when Jesus was questioning a man possessed by demons: And Jesus asked him, “What is your name? And he answered, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”
If you figured out that “legion” tip-off before reading it here, you get extra points!
On a separate note, I sometimes I think my comics could inspire interesting discussions or Bible studies by asking simple questions. On this comic for example:
1. Can you think of more bad isms? Some might be humanism, pantheism, naturalism, or materialism.
2. Can you think of any good isms? Some might be patriotism, capitalism, or creationism.
3. Are there philosophies that can become either good or bad? Environmentalism might be one. Is it earthly stewardship under God, or an earthly religion?
4. What makes a philosophy good or bad?
I had actually written lengthy answers to these questions, but then remembered that my mission here is to entertain with comics and keep any messaging short and sweet within that format. There are many depths and dimensions to tap about what makes a philosophy good or bad. Much more than just “isms”, of course. But hey, this is, after all, just a comic strip with limited space.
Suffice it to say that all these questions can be answered by studying the Bible and using it to determine what is good and bad. About philosophy or anything else. That’s why the Bible used to be taught in most American schools. Many societal problems we have today are because it is not. Just my opinion.
Thank you for your time and interest in my humble little comic.
And remember – ya gotta have Faith…
…FANTASTIC FAITH!
…if you say that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
